We have managed to pass this upper respiratory illness between Jason, the girls and me. Sammy had some sort of cough with a sore throat, but never ran a fever. His didn't seem as severe as the rest of us. Mine started 3 days ago and I felt like someone had beat me with a ballbat! I was so sore, my nose constantly ran and I had a horrible headache! Finally, yesterday I started to feel a little better and today is even better yet! I am not sure if the girls had what Jason had or I got what Jason had and now I have passed it on to the girls... but Cadie still seems cranky and out of sorts! She still has a runny nose! At least we don't have anymore 104.4 fevers!
Jason's parents picked up Jonah yesterday and he is also sick! Since he hasn't been here in 3 weeks, I am sure it is a different strain of respiratory flu than what we have had. His temp yesterday was 102.9 when he got to John and Janice's! Cathy had sent medication with him. Which, I discovered was adult formula NyQuil! She was giving him 5mL of it every 4 hours! I told Janice not to give that to him. It says right on the bottle not for children under 12 unless a doctor says to give it to them! Which, I am positive that she never took him to a doctor! The claritin that Dr. Well had said to give him for his allergies barely had any medicine out of it. So, apparently she isn't giving him the medicine that the doctor said to. Then she gives him a guess of a dose of adult strength medicine that has alcohol in it! I did check the amount of the drugs to make sure he wasn't at risk for poisoning, which, thankfully, all the dosages were at or below what he should have. The biggest problem is they don't recommend giving doxylamine (antihistamine) to children under 12! Not to mention we don't even know if she gave him the claritin (another antihistamine) with the NyQuil! So, we are going to have to figure all of that out in the next couple of days...
Today is Jason's 31st birthday!
I have been sick and so have the girls, so I didn't get him a card or a gift or anything! I feel terrible... he understands though!
Tuesday is Jeffrey's 15th birthday! I can't believe that Jeffrey is going to be 15! Wow!! He is getting to be quite the teenager. Still isn't dating and is actually quite shy around the girls. He is working on an old truck that he is fixing up with my dad's help! I told Dad that they are on the count down now! In one year he will be driving! How scary is that?
Then if two birthday's isn't enough...
Jonah turns 5 on Friday! FIVE!!! He is getting to be such a big boy! He will start kindergarten this fall! He was "the baby" of the gang when Jason and I met. He was only 2... and now to think he is 5 and going to kindergarten!
I think we are all going out to eat and headed out to go bowling. Hard to find an activity that a 15y/o and a 5y/o can enjoy together... but all the kids seem to love to bowl, so I think it will be a fun time!
Oh, not to be out done by the birthday siblings...
Cadie has now sprouted a tooth on the top right of her 2 big front teeth. It is just barely noticable, but you can feel it! That is tooth number 6 for her!
Courtney has also now sprouted tooth number 8... it is on the bottom right on the other side of her 2 bottom teeth! It is also a new bud that you can feel has broken through, but you have to look closely to see it.
Those girls are teeth sprouting fools!
Now, for the 2 children who aren't having birthdays...
Annie is now decided she hates social studies (since her Grandpa Danny and cousin Wyatt) hate social studies... she refuses to bring her book home or do any homework! ugh! Other than that, she is doing well! She so far as avoided being sick! She picked up the living room and vaccumed for me the other noc... bless her little cleaning heart!
Sammy has had a cough, and a sore throat, but hasn't complained of anything else. His big thing now is he can't hear what is said to him. Sometimes it is out of convenice more than really not being able to hear. I still haven't heard from the doctors office... I am calling Monday to see what their plans are... It has been over 3 weeks since I took him in.
Ok, I am off to nap while the girls are sleeping...
wishing everyone a healthy spring!
