busy week

So, here is a brief run down of our week.
Jason flew to Iowa and picked up Jonah on Saturday. Jonah stayed with Jason's parents Saturday and most of Sunday. Annie and Sammy were with their dad, so no one was here except for me and the twins. On Saturday, I had checked Craigslist and found a climbing thing with a slide that I thought the girls would have fun in. So, I loaded up my dad and went to North Pekin to pick it up.

Then on Sunday I went to my parents house to pick up Annie and Sammy and I learned that Annie wasn't with her dad (like I thought)... she had been over in Peoria with his girlfriend all weekend! I appreciate the fact that their dad's girlfriend is very good to them, but I do not approve of Annie being in Peoria all weekend without my knowledge!

Monday, Jason and Jonah drove to Germantown Hills to pick up a little tykes playhouse for the twins. It was only $100 and it is in pretty good condition. I actually cooked supper this night and we had tacos. I don't think I have cooked the rest of the week!

Tuesday, Sammy had a doctor's appt and I picked him up from school, left the twins with my mom (first time she has watched them all by herself) and dropped Jason off to pick up our Tracker (it has been getting transmission work done for the last 3 weeks)!Cadie and Courtney both love to talk on the phone and will fight over who gets to walk around and talk on it! Is this a prediction for future years? Courtney was having a blast beating up her brother! After she was done smacking him around, she was kind enough to offer a peace hug! I took Sammy and Jonah with me to the doctor and he checked him over in preparation for his surgery May 8th. Sammy weighs 66lbs and is 49in tall! I don't know where he hides it at! After we got back home, Jason took the kids to go look for mushrooms, as the girls and I just hung out and watched TV. Sammy had a musical concert at the school, so we hustled around and made it to the school just in time for Sammy to perform. They did lots of cute songs and it was just the Kindergardeners, 1st grade and 2nd graders. We grabbed a pizza on our way home b/c it was late and the kids hadn't had supper yet. The twins loved eating pizza and I barely ate any at all b/c the twins were hogging it all!

Wednesday, Jason, Jonah, the twins and I all headed for Macomb to do our recycling. We also did our Walmart shopping while there. Jonah's mom called and talked to him for over a half-hour while we shopped walmart. The kicker of it is that she barely asked Jonah about anything he had done. She talked to him about Annie and Sammy and the twins! Almost like we are this big one happy family and how they could come to South Dakota and all the stuff that they could do there! I couldn't believe it! The final straw was when she asked what time the kids got off the bus? What does that matter to her? Jason thinks she was just trying to keep Jonah on the phone, but I don't like how she is always pumping him for information about my kids. It would be one thing if we didn't have to go to court every year b/c she isn't agreeable when it comes to visitation! When we got home, Jason's mom fixed mushrooms for supper and it was nice break to not cook! (not that I have been cooking much this week! ha ha)

Thursday, Jason and Jonah left early today to go work on the Oak Tree. The girls and I met them in there (late!) and I had to pick Sammy up from school. Then we went and ate lunch (I said I was late! ha ha) then it was back to work. I think we split up 3 of the trunk pieces and we filled the trailer! The trunk pieces are so big around that I wouldn't even begin to be able to put my arms around one. First Jason has to drive a wedge down into the wood to begin a split. Once he gets it split in half, it is a little easier to move around. Sometimes we would be able to move the log splitter and use it to make the first split. My dad, who has a heart condition and isn't supposed to be doing strenous physical labor was out moving around these big wood pieces! However, I managed to capture this picture of him on the 4wheeler and doesn't he just look happy as a lark to be out there working? The sad part is after this year we will no longer be using wood to heat! I am sad to see it go, but yet it will be nice in future years to not have to go split wood to heat our house! We got home late, the kids had junk for supper... pizza rolls for the boys and grilled cheese for Annie!

Tomorrow is Friday and I am not sure what we have planned, but I am hoping that it can be a little more relaxing! I want to go to the nursery and get some plants to start working on the outside of our house. I hate the flowers that come up every year out front. The last ones to bloom are big and stringy and get all over our walkway. I hate that! So, we are wanting to do something different. I am sure it will take several years to get it looking like we want it.

Ok, that pretty well catches us up for this week. I should mention that Cadie now has 8 teeth. she has 4 on the bottom and 4 on the top now. Courtney's last molar (the one on the top right) has broken through the skin now. So, she has a total of 12 teeth. Cadie fell out of the cart at walmart! I freaked out! I seen her start to fall and I just couldn't get to her in time! What a horrible feeling! She had a small mark on her head, but some how managed to avoid going straight down. I scooped her up and was checking her pupils and trying to get her calmed down all at the same time. What is worse is that it was totally Jason and I's fault. Cadie hates to sit in the seat. We always let her stand or sit in the basket part b/c she loves to look out. She hates to ride backwards. So, she wasn't properly restrained, and it happened so fast. Even though I wasn't more than 3 ft from her, I seen it start to happen and started to move to get to her and she was already down and out! From now on, Cadie will just have to deal with riding in the seat and be buckled. I don't think my heart can handle another spill like that!

We have found that their favorite movie is the aristocats! It is so funny to watch them when that movie comes on! They are completely drawn to it. I was videoing them tonight. I would post video... but that is way more technical than I am....

Sammy got a mohawk last Friday. I like it! However, I have caught lots of grief over letting him get it! I figure he is 7... if he wants a mohawk, then what is the big deal? It is hair and it will grow back right? My grandma thought he would start acting "tough"... which, would be a good thing! He is very laid back and is an easy victim for bullies. Several of my aunts have stated they don't like it. My mom is cool with it. I think it looks cute on him! I told him he was lucky he was cute in order to have a haircut like that! When he first had it cut, I forgot to take my camera with me (bad mommy) but I do have pics of it on my cell phone! We also talked him into letting Melanie to put green color in it. It was washable, so it isn't still green!

Sounds like you guys have had a hectic week! BTW, we LOVE Sammy's hawk! I know we already told you that, but I just can't get over it every time I see him... he looks adorable. I hope Cadie's bump goes away soon! We have a cart-cover w/ toys on it if you want it to help keep her entertained. Emma doesn't use it anymore so you can give it a try. I'll bring it to ya next time I see ya. Hope you guys have a great weekend!
