Ok, so I am awake at 3am b/c Cadie woke up tonight about 1:30a crying. When I went upstairs to try to give her her pacifier... she got even more agitated. So, I picked her up from the crib so she wouldn't wake Courtney. As I was picking her up, she is screaming and wiggling and not wanting to be held, yet she wouldn't stand. I grabbed her pacifier and headed downstairs trying to talk to her the whole time. She is still screaming and I just kept saying her name quietly and telling her it was ok and trying to hold her. She continued to squirm and try to get away from me. So, I thought, ok... I have had a few people talk to me about these night terrors and they say not to wake the child. Since this isn't Cadie's first episode, I thought I will let her wonder around screaming and she will eventually fall asleep. As she was moving around, she flops herself on the floor and bangs her head. She is a head-banger in the daytime when she is completely awake, so I wasn't horribly shocked by the banging of the head. However, I did try to calm her down, talk to her and she still continued to push away from me and scream. She wondered around, tried to get up on the couch, when I went to help her, she pushed me away and pushed away the couch. She flopped down again and then banged her head AGAIN!! this time she got her nose and she has blood just gushing out her nose! I grab her burp rag that she carries around and I was trying to mop up the blood and get it to stop bleeding all the while she is freaking out even more! Of course I am freaking out b/c she has blood on her clothes, on me, on the burp rag, on our carpet and it is still running out her nose! I was worried she would choke on it b/c there was so much of it! Finally I got it to stop and she settled down. I propped her up on the pillows and went to get a wash rag to wash the blood off my arms and her face. I came back into the living room and she was asleep on the pillows!
I went ahead and wiped her up, she curled up on my lap and cuddled for a few. She then woke up a time or two and cried, but nothing like earlier. She was able to be consoled which was a huge difference from before. It seemed like the whole episode lasted forever, but it couldn't have been more than 15min or so.
I wish JC would have been here when it happened. Anna witnessed the last episode with me! Cadie totally had her freaked out and I didn't know what was going on. I didn't know anything about night terrors. I am still not convinced that is what is happening, but I don't know what else it could be. It seems to fit. My mom thinks I am borrowing trouble, but she hasn't been here during one of Cadie's "freak outs" either!
Well, since she seems to be sleeping just fine now, I am going to attempt to put her back in bed with her sister...

This picture was from a couple of nights ago.. but I thought I would add it to show how they 'normally' sleep together.

OH! They are so sweet sleeping like that together! I didn't realize they still shared a crib! How cute!
HOLY cow about the night terrors! Will just had one 2 nights ago, but nothing like what you just described! HOLY!
Poor Cadie! I hope she grows out of that soon! Must be tough on you, too, trying to console her. I love how they have to sleep together! They are adorable!
That sounds terrifying!!! Poor baby I hope it doesn’t happen again
Poor Cadie, night terrors are horrible, in some ways more terrifying to parents as at least kids don't remember them but as a parent you always will. I hope she doesn't have anymore! That is the most precious picture of them sleeping together!!
