Jason called Jonah last noc and after he got done talking to Jonah, he talked to Cathy. He asked Cathy how Jonah was doing and she said that he was fine. Jason said, so his cough is all gone. She said, "no, he has coughed 3 or 4 different times today." So, then Jason asked her why she wouldn't give Jonah the Claritin when it was prescribed by a doctor. She said "I'm not going to drug him up with a bunch of medicine if he doesn't need it." Jason said, well it sounds like he needs it if he is still coughing (and likely has a runny nose FROM ALLERGIES). Then she pulled this, well, he must have trouble at your house b/c you are at such a low elevation! Jason then compared the elevation at Yankton, SD with the elevation at Canton, IL. There is maybe 600ft difference. Not enough to say that is the reason he is coughing and hacking all the time! Jason pointed out to her that she just said he had a cough... her response... "oh, that's nothing!" Jonah has had this chronic cough since I can remember! He never seems to get better. Sometimes his cough will be a little less, other times (most of the time) he coughs, and coughs and coughs! I have noticed that he is worse with activity. I have often wondered if he was asthmatic, but it is going to take further research to figure it all out. It is hard when we only have him 1 week a month. However, starting this summer, he will be here for 2 weeks in June and 3 weeks in July. Maybe then we can get it figured out why he continues to cough. I do not know why Cathy wouldn't want to be trying to figure out why he is constantly sick. If someone told me that my child had a pulse ox of 88-90% I would want to find out why! I am anxious to get Jonah back here b/c I never checked his pulse ox before he left to go home (bad step mom)! I want to find out if it came back up or if he is still pretty low. I did listen to his lungs a few days after he had been on the antibiotic and he still had some course sounds, but over all his lungs sounded a lot better. I really hate it that I didn't take him to check that pulse ox again!
Jason also tried to figure out how Cathy wanted to do the visitation of 2009 (since we would like to avoid another court appearence in Dec 2008). She wouldn't even discuss it with Jason. All she would say is email me! So, Jason said, I just have 1 question for you... you get 3 weeks of the summer, how do you want to split them up? Her reply, "just email me!" So, he said, I don't care how you take your 3 weeks, just tell me when you want them. She kept saying, "just email me!" And then he said, well in the past you said you wanted the first week after school was out and 2 weeks prior to school starting. Is that how you still want to do it? She said, "just email me! It never matters what I want, you always have to have it YOUR way, so just email me - got it?!!" Jason was just shaking after he got off the phone with her! We tried everything possible to work out a schedule with her with some reason! She is the one who took us to court. She is the one who continues to try to limit visitation... and I already know that we will be back in court in Dec! I hate it! How hard is it to get along and figure out a visitation schedule!

Oh CC! I am so sorry. How horrible!
Ok, I'm not a nurse, but I have certainly had my fair share of kids in & out of my house with asthma and I would bet you Jonah has it too. Poor kid!
I hope you will be able to figure something out for him while you have him in the summer. (not that she will do what is right when he comes home)
Have you considered fighting for custody since she obviously isn't doing right by him?
I really hope you guys can figure out what is going on with Jonah! I really don't understand as a mother how you cannot want to get the best possible treatment for your child!!! And a big UGH on the visitation garbage, I really hope she doesn't put you through all that court crud AGAIN!!!
