Construction has begun!
Gary our contractor was here bright and early to start on our house project. One of the first things they did was to take our deck off...
After that they started removing the siding. Apparently, they are having trouble getting the backhoe here to dig out the basement, the shingles are on backorder and since we are moving our door, then Gary is going to start on that since his other stuff isn't here yet. Of course, we will no longer be burning wood heat since the chimney is right in the way for where the new addition connects to the house, so the chimney is gone as well. Made Jason a little sad, as Keith Wilhelm (he built this house for his family about 1977) had signed his name in the mortar on top of the chimney. Jason said that it was too cracked to try to keep and give to his girls or his widow.
This is looking out our patio window. Jason also cleaned off our back deck as we had lots of kids toys on it. This way Gary and his men don't have to work around all the toys.
The siding is off and I am anxious to see what the new looks like when it goes up. Lots of work to be done between now and then!
These are the basic pictures, they did manage to peel the siding off the north end and part way off the top. They did clean up the siding and haul it off today. We are supposed to be getting a big dumpster, but alas... that is another one of those hurdles!
