Way Back When-sday

For this When-sday, I got lucky enough to have one of Jason's cousin's post pics from days gone by on her facebook page.

I loved going through the old pics! I have known Jason's family for as long as I can remember. His Grandma and my Grandma were best friends. I even worked with Jason's Grandma at a nursing home years and years ago! So, I loved going down memory lane and looking at the pics Jacey had posted! Thanks Jacey!

Im going to guess this pic is from 1985 or 1986...

Jason, Jannea, Janice and John.

When I first posted this pic, I did it bc I liked it. Jason and I got to talking b/c I thought I recognized the farm in the background. Which, I did. However, there is more to this picture than meets the eye... and more than the farm in the background.
This pic was taken before John and Janice left to join the mission. They had someone take this picture, prints were made and handed out. In this day and age of technology, that is easy to do. However, back in 1986... it took a little more work than what it does now-a-days.
Now that I know the history behind this picture, it is even more meaningful to me.

Happy Birthday Hubby

Today is my hubby's birthday!
Too bad he had to work all day!
However, once he came home, I had supper ready and his parents were here!

Shortly after supper, we had cake and ice cream...

Look at all those candles!
Whew...

Got all of them blown out (took 2 breaths though)!

and cake! It was so yummy!

I missed getting pics of Grandma J and Annie... they were here too to help JC celebrate too!
JC said it was a great birthday... that is what every wife LOVES to hear!
Special Thank you to Grandma J and Grandpa J for helping with the girls while I got everything together!

Friday Foto Fiesta

It is Friday!
Time to show of a phun, phabulous picture!

behold...

...the pilot!

I picked this picture b/c recently JC had me go out and take pics of him and the plane. He is so proud of his plane. He is so proud to be a pilot. Most of all... he is now the proud owner of a Garman 196*.
*A Garman 196 is a special GPS unit for an airplane. They have their own special software to show all the airports of a specific region. They can be rather costly... I think brand new it retails for about $700. Thank Goodness for Ebay!*
That is all he wanted for Christmas. It is all I have heard about for the last 2mo! Finally, he got one! I am so glad! As long as it helps him to stay safe while flying... I am all for it... no matter what the cost is!

The Tree is UP!

Ok. I think next year... the weekend after Thanksgiving I will be putting up our tree! I feel like Ole St. Nick is knocking at my door and I am not even close to being ready!

Anyway, the kids and I had lots of fun decorating our tree. Normally, I am one of those people who has perfect placement of ornaments on the tree (think of Monica from Friends). However, this year, there wasn't any stopping, organizing or doing much more than just sit back and watch in wonder...

Sammy hanging up his decorations.

Jason and Cadie...

...this is just after we pulled Cadie out of the tree! I had used a step-stool to reach the top of the tree when stringing lights and Cadie found it quite handy when hanging ornaments, however, she misjudged a step and fell over INTO the tree! Amazingly, it didn't knock it over! Daddy just had to console her a little and she was right back at hanging ornaments!

Courtney...

...was slow and determined at her attempts to hang ornaments. Cadie would hang 2 or 3 to 1 of Courtney's!

Cadie...

... back on the footstool. She would occasionally look back and double check that she was indeed hanging the ornament in the correct position!

Courtney...

... a little backwards on her ornament hanging, though is getting the hang of it!

JM...

...even as the oldest, he had fun helping the babies, and made sure to hang his ornaments the highest on the tree!

Anna...

...got the important job of stringing the garland!

BEHOLD....

OUR CHRISTMAS TREE!

For those who wonder how I keep the tree in one piece and standing...

YEP... those are 2 gates!
I also took all the glass ornaments and set them aside. I think maybe 3 ended up on the tree, but the majority never made it out of their box for this year!

Actually, my bright idea was to move the one gate (the stretchy evenflo gate) out of the doorway by the front entry. This left this doorway open, but as long as the 2 other gates were closed, there wasn't anyway the girls could get to the Christmas tree or go up the stairs. However, last noc, I quickly learned that the girls have figured out how to break down the stretchy gate!

*sigh*

Since I had a "spare" gate in the garage (bought it for the stairwell, but it was too small), I had my FIL drag it out of the garage, I cleaned it up and that will be my husband's project tonoc. Put up the metal gate, they won't be able to climb it or knock it over! The stretchy gate will go back to its home over the entry way doorway (as seen below)!

I am hopeful that maybe next Christmas... we will be able to have our house opened back up! I think I have a gate in almost every doorway now!

Two for Two-sday

It's Tuesday!
Time to show off my twosome!

This is THE DEERHUNTERS!

Jason loves to deer hunt. However, since he has met me, it has became increasingly less. Although, at the beginning of shotgun season, Jason is always out in the woods! For the last 3 yrs he has taken the kids with him... (which ever ones want to go).
One year, just Jonah and Annie went. The next year, just Jonah went. This year, Annie and Sammy both wanted to go as well as Jonah. However, I didn't want to let the kids miss school... so they had to wait til Saturday to go.

I don't have a picture of this as JC took my good camera and then I didn't get it back until yesterday...
want to know how many pictures he took???

ZERO!!!

Glad he had my camera all that time for NOT ONE deer picture! He shot a deer... just NO pictures!
Have I NOT taught this man anything???

Friday Foto Fiesta

Yeah! Its Friday!!!

Time for Candid Carrie's Foto Fiesta!

The other morning, I got the biggest laugh from this...

the girls were ready for Daddy to come downstairs for breakfast! They decided to take matters into their own hands and run him out of the shower!

**I have to note that Daddy was about done with his shower and the girls are not quiet when they enter a room, so he did have plenty of time to get covered before the ripped the curtain open on him! I happen to have the camera on the bookshelf b/c I had been sitting in bed downloading pics from my camera to the laptop! Can I say how THANKFUL daddy is that I always seem to have my camera nearby? LOL**

Apple Blossom Farm

On Monday, JC and I went to Apple Blossom Farm with my best friend Jen and her girls! We had such a great time and I am already looking forward to next year! Check out her recap here.

Apple Blossom is a really cool farm where you can co to pick out pumpkins, apples, gourds plus the kids get to have an enjoyable time too!

First up was the zoo characters...

Notice JC on the far left... he is always doing something silly in front of a camera! This is just a few of his antics for the day. I am happy to report that many of them were not caught on camera. Like him throwing rocks down the back of my jeans or that he invented "flying corn"... the kids LOVED it... but my words to him all day were... "you are such a dork!"

next is courtney sue climbing up to go on the slide...

Then JC and Jen took the little girls down the big slide as the older three ran off to play...

Next up was Jen and I on the slide...

we would get started down the slide and it never failed to slide into each other!

I found that I don't slide as fast as the kids do! But it was still so much fun!

Hannah and Emma coming down the slide...

Anna, my sk8r girl...

Next the kids went around playing on the various boats, planes, and trains.
Cadie was concentrating pretty hard getting to where she wanted to go...

Cadie loved the slide so much she would go down it over and over again!

JC and Sammy found their way around the corn maze. Jen and I visited the craft shop (boy, JC is sure glad I left my purse at home)! Then we met back up again and JC and the kids went on the Monster Truck while Jen and I visited with another friend we met up with there!
We all went out to supper at Steak 'n' Shake and the kids must have worked up an appetite b/c soon as the food was there... total silence! LOL
It was an awesome day and everyone had a blast! Thanks Jen, for showing us such a good time!

Friday Foto Fiesta

It is Friday again! Time for Candid Carrie's Phriday Photo Phiesta!
First up... Jason and the girls on the 4 wheeler. This is the first time both girls have been on the 4 wheeler and the first time Cadie has ever been on it! (Courtney's first ride was Father's Day... while Cadie slept)

notice the expression on Cadie's face. She was so determined... and ready to go!
And there they go...

the girls had a blast! They love riding (same as their mommy)!

This one has nothing to do with the above pictures, but I couldn't wait to share it.

JM came out the other day so I could get some much needed painting started. He cuddled up with the girls in their little cubby hole (in front of the tv) and they watched and sang along! I know tv isn't the best entertainment, but I love the NOGGIN channel! He is such a great big brother! He sure loves the twins and is so good with them! I just wanted to capture the love....

run on over to Candid Carrie's blog to check out more great pics

My friend Debi over at Who Says Eight is Enough? sponsors Baby Picture Sundays and todays theme is Fall or Fall Harvest pics...

so, I am stretching the boundries on this one since I don't have any REALLY great fall pics....

This is one of my best friends. We met our sophomore year in high school, and have been best friends every since. Our children are all about the same age (except she didn't have twins... dang it!) Chrisney LOVES the fall.

A lady that I worked with gave me this fall sweatshirt for Sammy...

Two for Two-sday

a little late... but here is our Two for Twos-day...

This is Jason and Cadie... making pig faces.

Cadie is the master at animal noises... she knows what sound a cow, horse, sheep, dog, cat, pig, rooster, chicken, goat, owl, duck and bear makes. Pig is by far one of the funniest b/c of the face she makes!

Check out Eight is Great to see who else is playing along!
